December 5th: CLASSICAL CHRISTMAS Concert | Victoria, BC

Back to share a magical holiday tradition, our 11th annual holiday concert treated over 400 music-lovers to the the 11 dynamic choral movements of Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols, and his St Nicolas cantata.

Our Concert Choir was joined by special orchestral guests under the leadership of Norman Nelson, and welcomed amazing singers from the St Christopher Singers, VCC Alumni, and tenor Isaiah Bell. Christ Church Cathedral was the perfect setting to feature the striking music abilities of all our performers.

Thank you to all those who shared in our cheerful evening of song and Christmas celebrations!

October 31st: Fall Dinner and Mini Concert | Victoria, BC
We sang for your supper! Over 200 people took an Autumn evening to see the Victoria Children's Choir's first (mini) Concert of the 2011-2012 season.

A hearty chili dinner was cooked by our chefs and served by multi-talented Choristers. The delectable dessert buffet both looked and tasted incredible. Many people took home a treat from our silent auction - and the Choristers performed some fun, beautiful selections from their new repertoire.

We also welcomed the Wee Folks Glee Club to these special afternoon festivities.

At Christ Church Cathedral the Concert and Recital Choirs paid homage to the holiday season as well as the Canadian Navy during our St Nicholas Day performance. October 30th: Mini Concert at the Fall Chili Dinner | Victoria, BC
We're not sure which was spicier - the chili, the goodies in our silent auction, or the performance by our Choirs at this early-season performance. One thing is for sure though, everyone went home satisfied!

Transcendent Voices with Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra  |  Sooke, BC; Metchosin, BC
Music Director, David Stratkauskas, led the Recital Choir in a captivating presentation of Brundibár (Hans Krasa), as originally performed by the children of Theresienstradt Concentration Camp in occupi ed Czechoslovakia.

Brundibar (Czech slang for bumblebee) is a heartwarming story of good triumphing over evil. This opera, performed within a play, was composed in 1938 for a competition for which the results were never announced! German occupation of Czechoslovakia forced the show to a new stage, performed by children of the Terezin Jewish ghetto - helping children and adults transcend misery and hardship. This lovely anti-war fable tells of a brother and sister who urgently need milk for their sick mother. To make money the children sing in the marketplace, much to the annoyance of the organ grinder Brundibár. As they struggle to overcome Brundibár and his cruel antics, they are joined by an array of other children...and even some well-spoken animals.
