Carmen, presented by Pacific Opera Victoria | Victoria Twelve talented Victoria Children's Choir singers played special roles in the story of dashing toreadors, leering soldiers, and free-spirited gypsies! Joining Pacific Opera Victoria for this heart-thumping, tragic tale of an intriguing cigarette girl who spurns her lover for a celebrated matador was a highlight of our 2012 Appearances.
VCC Scored at Anthem Night | Victoria Before the puck dropped at the Victoria Royals home game, our Apprentice Choir has already brought home a gold-worthy rendition of O Canada. Anthem Night is an important fundraiser where every dollar from VCC tickets sold sings!

The Birthday Party of a Lifetime :: Celebrating Eric Charman | Victoria, BC It was truly an honour to sing a tribute to one of Canada's most dedicated and enthusiastic supporters of music and arts on the occasion of his 80th birthday. A recipient of the national Edmund C. Bovey Award, the Governor General’s Award for Volunteerism in the Performing Arts, and the Order of Canada, Eric Charman has given countless gifts to Victoria's music community over the past 50 years. Along with the Victoria Symphony (conducted by Maestro Timothy Vernon), the Pacific Opera Victoria, and Victoria Conservatory of Music, we marked his incredible achievements and shared our "thanks" in a most appropriate musical manner.
February:
Pacific Baroque Festival "Music for the Sun King" | Victoria, BC Along with incredible artists (Paolo Pandolfo; Soile Stratkauskas; Marc Destrubé; Byron Schenkman; Natalie Mackie; St Christopher Singers) and the Pacific Baroque Orchestra, our singers celebrated "the musical brilliance of Versailles and beyond". Yom HaShoah Fundraiser, Brundibar Performance | Victoria, BC Supporting community interests is important to the VCC, and we were pleased to perform the music from Brundibar for the Kolot Mayim Reform Temple I-Witness Programme fundraiser.
April:
Transcendent Voices with Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra | Sooke, BC; Metchosin, BC Music Director, David Stratkauskas, led the Recital Choir in a captivating presentation of Brundibár (Hans Krasa), as originally performed by the children of Theresienstradt Concentration Camp in occupi ed Czechoslovakia.
Brundibar (Czech slang for bumblebee) is a heartwarming story of good triumphing over evil. This opera, performed within a play, was composed in 1938 for a competition for which the results were never announced! German occupation of Czechoslovakia forced the show to a new stage, performed by children of the Terezin Jewish ghetto - helping children and adults transcend misery and hardship. This lovely anti-war fable tells of a brother and sister who urgently need milk for their sick mother. To make money the children sing in the marketplace, much to the annoyance of the organ grinder Brundibár. As they struggle to overcome Brundibár and his cruel antics, they are joined by an array of other children...and even some well-spoken animals.
Friends of St. Paul's Fundraiser | Victoria, BC At VCC, the Canadian Forces have always been close to our hearts - and we were thrilled to help out at this important fundraiser for restoration of the historic Naval Garrison Church near CFB Esquimalt, and supporting event for the VCC Festival Tour 2011. Under direction of Madeleine Humer, this performance featured a taste of our European Tour music! Concert poster
