Another successful Pacific Baroque Festival has come and gone. The theme this year: Le Grand Siècle-Music in the Glow of the Sun King. The repertoire performed was from the time of Louis XIV, France’s “Sun King,” who reigned from 1643 to 1715.
The Victoria Children’s Choir have become regular collaborators in this annual festival. This season, our choristers had the wonderful privilege to sing in two performances of the festival, “The Perfection of Music” at Christ Church Cathedral and “From Chaos to Sublime Beauty” at Alix Goolden Performance Hall. They shared the stage with extremely talented musicians of the Pacific Baroque Orchestra, guest organist Alexander Weimann, and vocal soloists Hélène Brunet and Catherine Webster – sopranos, Benjamin Butterfield – tenor and Nathan McDonald – baritone.
