Victoria Children’s Choir Scholarship 2025-2026

ree

As part of celebrating 25 years of music-making, community, and excellence, the Victoria Children’s Choir is proud to introduce a brand-new annual scholarship. Each year, one chorister will be awarded $1,000 CAD to support their next chapter in post-secondary education, whether that’s university, college, a trade, technical school, the arts, or a certificate program.

This scholarship recognizes the qualities that make our choristers extraordinary: leadership, community contribution, and commitment to the choir. It’s our way of saying thank you for all you’ve given to the VCC, while also investing in the incredible future ahead of you.

Who Can Apply?

You are eligible if:

●      You are actively involved in the Concert Choir or Youth Ensemble Choir and are a member in good standing.

●      You have been accepted into a recognized post-secondary program with a program start date on or before May 31, 2027.

How to Apply

  1. Create a Video

Record a short video (no longer than 5 minutes!) that shares:

○      Why you should receive the scholarship.

○      What being part of the VCC has meant to you.

○      The learnings and experiences you are taking with you from the choir into your post-secondary journey.

  1. Answer a Few Questions

Alongside your video, provide short written answers to these questions alongside your video submission:

○      What school or training facility have you been accepted into?

○      What program or focus area have you been accepted into?

○      When does your program begin?

○      Please include proof of your acceptance (letter or equivalent).

Note - all applications should be submitted to president@victoriachildrenschoir.ca by the application deadline. Late submissions may not be considered.

What We’re Looking For

The committee will be paying close attention to:

●      How you’ve shown leadership in and outside of the choir.

●      The ways you’ve contributed to the VCC community.

●      Your level of commitment to the choir throughout your time here.

Application Timelines

●      Applications open: December 15, 2025

●      Applications close: April 30, 2026 at 11:59pm PST

●      Winner announced: Year End Concert, June 2026

How the Selection Works

●      Applications are reviewed by a committee made up of VCC board members, artistic directors and supporters.

●      Starting in the second year, the winner from the previous year (if available) will join the committee to help select the next recipient.

●      Priority will be given to applicants who have not won the Victoria Children’s Choir Scholarship previously.

When and How You’ll Receive the Award

●      The scholarship is valued at $1,000 CAD.

●      Once you provide proof of enrollment in your post-secondary program, the funds will be reimbursed directly to you.

The VCC 25th Anniversary Scholarship is more than financial support, it’s a celebration of the time, talent, and heart you’ve given to the choir. We are proud to honour your journey with the VCC and excited to see how you carry your learnings forward into the next chapter of your life. This award is our way of recognizing the legacy you leave with the choir and celebrating the future you are building.

Best of luck with your application!

The Victoria Children's Choir is a Member of Choral Canada and the BC Choral Federation.

We would like to acknowledge that we gather on the unceded, ancestral lands of the Lekwungen speaking peoples – the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations, who have stewarded these lands and waterways since time immemorial, and whose connection to the land continues to this day. We are grateful to live, learn, raise our families, and make music on these beautiful lands. We would also like to acknowledge our Métis, Inuit and urban Indigenous partners and friends who call these lands their home.
