Recital Choir Accompanist

 

Location: Victoria, BC

The Recital Choir Accompanist is a contract artistic position with the Victoria Children’s Choir.

 

The Recital Choir Accompanist is responsible to the Artistic Director and works in collaboration with the Recital Choir Music Director.

 

The Recital Choir accompanist will be associated with the Recital Choir, and will:

  • accompany the choir at rehearsals, at camps, on day-tours and in designated performances

  • work in a collegial manner with the choir director to foster a vibrant learning environment for the choristers

  • arrange for a suitable replacement in the event of a required absence

  • work within the budgetary guidelines for the choir

  • contribute to the organization’s vision, mission and goals in collaboration with the artistic and administrative staff and the Board

The Recital Choir rehearses Fridays from 4:00 - 6:00pm at St. Aidan's United Church. The season runs September - early June.

Choir Managers

 

Location: Victoria, BC

As we begin our 20th season in September, we are set to welcome an entirely new and exciting artistic team! As a result, the VCC is recruiting three Choir Managers to support each of our choirs: the Prelude Choir (7-9 years), the Recital Choir (10-12 years), and the Concert Choir (13-18 years). The Choir Manager positions are part-time contract positions from September 2020 – June 2021.


Choir Managers should possess a combination of the background, education, and experience appropriate for this keystone leadership position, combined with creativity, good planning and communication skills. The ideal candidate will find satisfaction in working closely with our Choir Directors to inspire, develop and support young choristers and their families in their ongoing vocal development, music education and personal growth.


Choir Mangers will:

  • Attend all choir rehearsals, choir performances, staff and parent meetings;

  • Manage the administrative, budgetary, and scheduling tasks related to their choir;

  • Manage financial transactions with families related to uniforms, concert tickets and fundraising;

  • Ensure clear and timely communication with choir families and VCC staff throughout the season;

  • Update online information for their choir (as required);

  • Create and maintain a safe, enjoyable and positive environment for the choristers at choir events;

  • Possess a current Emergency First Aid & CPR C/AED certification;

  • Contribute to the organizations artistic vision and evaluation in collaboration with the entire artistic and administrative team of the VCC.
