2015 Concerts and Appearances

December 2015

Classical Christmas Concerts | Victoria, Nanaimo

It was an especially bright holiday season of festive music and feelings when our eighty talented singers performed yuletide songs from around the world. In 2015 the Concert featured the beautiful, rare music that fills people with warmth and joy during long Scandinavian winters. The Choir was thrilled to be joined by special guests from Denmark – The Irene Becker Trio – and to perform the exclusive Canadian premiere of “In the Star, Sparkling in Darkness”! The stunning new composition highlights the time of Advent and the Winter Solstice.

Lights Across Canada | Victoria

As the nation got ready to celebrate the holidays, our singers performed at the Parliament Building, festooned with thousands of cheerful lights.

We “floated” along to our best season songs, and a few playful pieces, to share choral music with the crowds.

World of Song – Season Finale Concert | Victoria, BC

Songs of freedom, peace, and nostalgia can transcend time and space. We celebrated the captivating legacies of many composers, historic moments, and rich cultures from around the world. Featuring: Classical, contemporary, and folk music from 2015 Choir Tours. At the season finale concert, Concert and Apprentice Choirs showcase the music that inspired their learning, training, and passion for music. Sung in: English, French, Hebrew, Latin, Zulu, French, Norwegian, and Haida.

International Choir Tour – “Bridging Generations” | The Netherlands

Members of our Concert Choir, and alumni singers, travelled to the Netherlands to mark the 70th anniversary of WWII Liberation. Anthem Night – Victoria Royals Home Game | Victoria, BC

On Family Day in BC, we enjoyed quality time with our Apprentice Choir, the Victoria Royals, and fans as we performed the home game National Anthem. Hockey never sounded so good.

Pacific Baroque Festival | Victoria, BC

The highlight of the new year was celebrating music of the past. At the Pacific Baroque Festival, our Concert Choir performed the incredible music of Handel, accompanied by the Pacific Baroque Orchestra (with the first-ever inclusion of trumpets and timpani). The live presentation included the famous “Zadok The Priest” Coronation Anthem, and the rare “Ode To St Cecelia”.
